Trinity Great Swamp United Church of Christ

Social Ministry

Our committee can be defined by, "little acts of kindness." We are responsible for collecting and distributing canned food items for the Quakertown Food Pantry as well as volunteering at the center. We serve meals at the Friends Meeting House Soup Kitchen once a month. In the fall we organize a birthday party complete with food, games and prizes for the residents of Phoebe Nursing Home. December is a busy month for collecting and delivering Christmas gifts for the residents at both Phoebe Richland and Phoebe Allentown homes. White gifts are delivered to Bethany Children's Home in January. We appreciate all church members support in all of these projects.

We meet on an as needed basis ...usually on a Tuesday evening at 6:30pm.

Please keep your food donations coming each Sunday for the Food Pantry.  They are delivered on Mondays by members of our committee.

An Update on Quakertown’s Homeless Program
All the money donated this year was given to Joanne Cramer who uses it to pay for lodging at a local motel for individuals or families in need of shelter.  Many of the people in need come to the Quakertown Food Pantry seeking help.   We are not the only church helping these people but the need is growing.  When apartments are found for families, we receive requests for furniture and bedding.  One of our members read about the need for furniture in our last Table Talk, contacted us and we delivered 3 pieces of living room furniture, donate by her brother, to a family of three.

  1. Donating any amount of money to the white box in back of the church.  Even a dollar or change in your pocket will add up quickly.
  2. Call Joanne Cramer if you know of anyone wanting to get rid of furniture in good condition.  Beds & dressers are always needed.  610-442-6465.
  3. Donate your time.  Drivers are needed to take people to job interviews or to help pick up and deliver furniture.

We thank all of you who have contributed to this project and hope you will continue to do so.  As the weather gets colder, there will be a greater need for shelter.  Unfortunately, this problem isn’t going away.

If you would like to make a donation please feel free to do so here. Thank you.
